Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has allotted 50 shops to Northern traders in the state. The allocation is coming only a few months after the governor donated a vehicle to the Sarikin Hausawa in Owerri.
Speaking to Daily Trust in Owerri yesterday, Vice Chairman of the Onions Dealers Association at the Relief Market, Alhaji Yau Shehu, commended the governor for the gesture. He said out of the 50 shops, 20 were given to onion dealers, while the remaining shops were distributed among other traders.
Shehu said the allocation has helped to decongest Ama Hausa, the area where most of them reside, just as it has empowered them. Another northern leader and the Chairman, Palm Produce Dealers Association, Alhaji Tahiru Ishaka, also commended the governor for the gesture.
