Dangote Drops Three Places In Forbes Ranking, Now 26th Richest In The World With $23.7bn


Aliko Dangote, President and CEO of Nigeria's Dangote Group, makes a point during a plenary discussion on food insecurity at the World Economic Forum on Africa meeting in Cape TownAfrica’s richest man Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Group has slipped down three places to occupy the 26th position in the latest Forbes Magazine world billionaires ranking, released Tuesday.

Dangote had been sitting pretty as 23rd richest man in the world as at March 2014 – however, his net worth depleted from $25bn to $23.7bn – hence, his drop on the list. Nigeria’s cement mogul however remains Africa’s richest man.Other Nigerians on the billionaires list are Globacom’s Mike Adenuga, ranked 310th with a net worth of $4.8billion. Plus.BUA Group’s Abdulsamad Rabiu also made the list. While female billionaire Folorunsho Alakija, with assets valued at $2.5 billion, ranked 715th in the world.

The world’s richest man is still the Mexican telecom giant, Carlos Slim Helu. His wealth is estimated at $82billion.
Followed by Bill Gates at $80 billion.
Warren Buffet comes third with $67billion.
