6 Ministers With Governorship Ambitions To Resign


According to reports, six ministers may resign their positions in October in preparation for the 2015 elections.The members of President Goodluck Jonathan's cabinet will reportedly be quitting their offices in a bid to pursue their governorship aspirations.The ministers in question are CONTINUE READING>>
Senator Bala Muhammed (Federal Capital Territory), Mr. Labaran Maku (Information), Chief Emeka Wogu (Labour), Mr. Nyesom Wike (State, Education), Dr. Samuel Ortom (State, Trade, Industry and Investment) and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro (State, Defence).Muhammed reportedly has interest in the governorship of Bauchi State, Maku in Nassarawa State, Wogu in Abia State, Wike in Rivers State, Ortom in Benue State and Obanikoro intends to contest for the position of Lagos State Governor.
A source in the Presidency told Punch:
“Their resignation will come very soon. You know the President will have to fill the vacancies that will be created before the general elections in February 2015. You also know that the Senate must approve nominees.“It is therefore important that the list be forwarded to the senators before everybody will be engrossed in election matters in their various constituencies,”President Jonathan’s Special Adviser on Performance, Monitoring and Evaluation, Prof. Sylvester Monye is also reportedly interested in the governorship of Delta state.
