SUICIDE: Man Hangs Self In Imo

Residents of Amakohia in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State were shocked yesterday when a middle aged man , Chidi Eke from Ohaji area of the state, hanged himself.According to an eye witness account from the Nwodu family compound where the deceased was said to have been residing for 16 years, Mr Tochi Nwodu, stated that the lifeless body of Eke was seen dangling from a
hook in the ceiling of his room at about 6 am by his mother who was surprised that the gate which was normally open by Eke before 6 am everyday was still locked.The witness further disclosed that his mother who was preparing for a 6 am mass the fateful day went to find out from the late Eke who resided at the Boys quarter why the gate was still locked after 6 am, but to her surprise, she found him already dead.“I found his lifeless body dangling from the high window protector in the bathroom when our mummy who was on her way to Morning Mass, had called the deceased to open the gate because he is the one who usually opens the gate in the morning, but when there was no response, she decided to go the Boys’ Quarters to wake him up, there, his body was found” said the witness.LEADERSHIP also gathered that the deceased was alleged to be a chronic gambler but it could not be ascertained at the time of this report if he died from frustrations of his gambling as his suicide note he was said to have placed in his room, was not made public.
