How can Obasanjo who wasted $16 billion on power without a single kilowatt be handing over blue-print to the in-coming administration?– Owie tells Buhari..

Senator Rowland Owie, has again lambasted ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo over his perceived posture to influence the incoming administration of President-elect, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.Reacting to a Think-tank report submitted to Buhari by a team of technocrats put together by Obasanjo, Owie described the document as needless.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, Owie, who is also a former Chief Whip of the Senate, asked: ”How can Obasanjo be preparing a blueprint for Buhari? A Bini parable says, ‘how can an impotent man get medicine for his brother, who suffers weak erection?'”Expressing disappointment at Buhari’s romance with Obasanjo, Owie said “Obasanjo will tell the world that the solutions he prescribed for fixing Nigeria were ignored.”
Continuing he said, “I just read that Obasanjo’s think-tank has submitted a blueprint to Buhari. Blue what?

“I am shocked that great Nigerians of the likes of Prof. Akin Mabogunje, Dr. Idika Kalu and Dr. Christopher Kolade were involved. That Obasanjo is linked to the blue-print, it will be a document of blackmail to Buhari very soon.

“Wonders will never end! How can Obasanjo who allegedly wasted eight years in government pursuing perceived enemies, and tried to ruin the legislative and judiciary arms of government in Nigeria; wasted $16 billion on power and not a single kilowatt of energy was produced, destroyed Aladja Steel, Itakpe Steel, Ajaokuta Steel, NITEL, just to mention a few FGN parastatals, now begin to advise Buhari?“How can Obasanjo, whose government received, in one year, a revenue equivalent of the total revenue that IBB regime received in eight years, yet, nothing to show for it, be handing over blue-print to the in-coming administration?

“While there are great legacies left behind by IBB, but Nigerians can’t find any useful legacies by a government that received the highest revenue, since the amalgamation of Nigeria.

“The legacies left behind by Obasanjo are allegedly hate, divisiveness, Zaki- Ibiam and Odi destruction, impunity in government business and the business of the PDP that was put together by well-meaning people, including my humble self, when he, Obasanjo, was in prison,” Sen. Owie said.

He added that the present state of PDP was created by Obasanjo when the late SB Awoniyi was rigged out in 2000 at Eagle Square and another attempt to rebuild the party through Chief Audu Ogbeh was frustrated when Ogbeh was forced to resign as PDP chairman.

“We thank God that now that Obasanjo has left the PDP, we can rebuild the party. Has Obasanjo not seen now the major achievements of Yar’Adua-Jonathan government within a short time,”? he quipped.

The committee’s report dwelled on five key sectors- economy, security, power, education and infrastructure.

Vice Chairman of the committee, and a former Minister of Finance, Dr. Idika Kalu, presented the report to Buhari in Abuja, last Thursday.

Kalu said, “We have looked at education, security, economy, power and infrastructure. Those are the areas we have made recommendations and which we hope the new administration will be able to work on.”

He further explained that the president-elect was very happy that they had been thinking about how to help him hit the ground running.

Also speaking, Chairman of the Governing Board, Centre for Human Security of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Prof. Akin Mabogunje, told newsmen that the committee had been working on a number of critical issues for the development of the country.

On his part, Dr. Christopher Kolade, who heads the power committee, gave various stages of the proposed power sector development plan to include short term, medium term and long term solutions.

Under the short term solution, the plan seeks to raise the country’s power generation to 10,000 MW within a very short period of time.

DAILY POST recalls that Owie had in April advised Buhari to avoid Obasanjo if he desired to succeed as Nigeria’s leader.

Owie, who spoke in Benin City, Edo State, said: “To Buhari, I thank God for you, but you must deliver on your promises and also build on what President Goodluck Jonathan did. Above all, you must run far from Obasanjo.

“If he can’t control your government, he will fight you.
