Patience Jonathan, Goodluck Jonathan’s wife is reportedly moving out of the presidential villa in Abuja.
According to Leadership, the process started when the Independent National Electoral Commission announced that Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, had won the election.
The final results were declared on Tuesday night, although it became clear even earlier that Jonathan had been defeated by the opposition challenger.
A presidency source disclosed that Dame Patience had summoned her domestic staff and ordered them to pack her personal belongings in readiness for the change of guard.
The source was quoted as saying:
“By 6pm, the truck had made two trips.”
Meanwhile Nigerian officials continue sending congratulatory messages to the president-elect. Buhari is expected to address the people at 11am, April 1.
Yesterday the winner already took to his Facebook page to thank his supporters.
He characterized the APC’s win as a victory for all Nigerians and thanked Jonathan for conceding defeat.
