Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has stated that due to alleged massive rigging by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the just concluded presidential and National Assembly polls in the South-East, the zone may not produce the Senate president in the new dispensation.Okorocha, who made the observation yesterday during a world press conference in Owerri, with the South-East leaders of APC in attendance, noted that the “robbing of APC members, who contested for the senatorial seats in the state as well as that of other areas in the South was a bad omen for the chances of APC grabbing the slot.“PDP rigged the election in Imo, denying our three senatorial candidates of winning the election, Ngige and others, who are good materials for the Senate president position from Igbo land have been robbed,” Okorocha said.
However, he expressed confidence that the positions taken away from them would be rightfully regained following the rule of law.
“In a matter of time, we shall get back our position stolen from us. We trust the man who will be at the helms of affair, our government would not be a government of propaganda.
“We shall not use police or army to intimidate people, but thank God, that will never happen again,” Okorocha said.
Earlier, former governor of old Abia State, Chief Ogbonnaya Onu, noted that politics had changed in the country with the emergence of Buhari, and thanked the people of the zone for voting the president-elect, pointing out that the doors of the party were open to receive progressive minds.
