EBONYI 2015: Kalu congratulates Afikpo Chic over legendary victory in Assembly polls

Frontline political maestro and business mogul, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu has said that the era of rigging elections in Nigeria will soon come to an end whereby the electorates force political godfathers to stop imposing candidates over them.

At his Aso Rock Abuja residence on Wednesday, the ex Abia State governor made these remarks while congratulating Madam Maria Ude Nwachi, popularly known as Afikpo Chic or Nwanyi Afikpo over her uncommon victory into the Ebonyi State House of Assembly.

Kalu described the victory of Nwachi as legendary, since without a single political structure, godfather or sponsor, she was accepted wholly by her people and voted into the Ebonyi House of Assembly, in a party that that had no structure in her state. He advised the upcoming politician to stay focused and build a legacy of good representation as one of the only three female lawmakers in Ebonyi State.

Nwachi, popularly known in the social media as Afikpo Chic, ran for the Afikpo North State Constituency of the Ebonyi House of Assembly under the platform of Progressive Peoples' Alliance (PPA), a party with nil structure in the state. She not only won her mandate through popular vote, she is also the first elected female from Afikpo.

Interestingly, Nwachi is also the only PPA candidate who got elected in the 2015 General Elections in Nigeria. She gained fame as a household name in the social media after establishing Ndi Igbo page, Igboist group, Afikpo People and social interaction groups on Facebook a few years back. She is also the brain behind Afikpo Chic Times, Afikpo Chic Blog and Prime Chronicles.
