Tragedy: Ex-Akwa Ibom Deputy Speaker Slumps, Dies During Campaign

Former Deputy Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Okon Uwah, yesterday slumped and died during a campaign at Nkek, in Ukanafun.

Uwah, who is running for the Ukanafun State Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) slumped at the residence of his in-law, one Godwin Udoko while holding a political consultation.

An eyewitness at the event disclosed that tragedy struck when disagreement began over how to share the consultation money dropped by the aspirant. As youths became unruly and surged to the venue, Obong Uwah, in panic tried to move away from the ensuing stampede but slumped and was trampled by the surging crowd.
