Ambassador Kwande Speaks On Election Results

Ambassador Yahaya Kwande, the respected Nigerian politician, has predicted the outcome of the March 28 presidential election.

Not only have individuals predicted the results of the polls, but also numerous organisations. For example, last week a UK-based research and political risk consultancy firm concluded that President Goodluck Jonathan would win with a margin of 13% (probability).

However, Kwande is of a different opinion, Daily Post reports. The diplomat believes that Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress candidate, will emerge the winner.

Kwande made his prediction in Jos, Plateau state:
“The profile and popularity of the candidate of APC, General Muhammadu Buhari cannot be estimated on a mere scale. I believe he himself is sitting in a corner of his house wondering what is it that is bringing these people to me.

“The natural wind of change is blowing, that wind is monsoon wind. Whoever wants to stop that strong wind will be carried away. I believe even if Buhari steps aside today and says no, the wind will carry him away because people believe that God has given him the opportunity to change the cooperate existence of Nigeria. Nigeria’s citizens are the king in this election, if what we have been told and what we have seen for this election will be effectively guarded by security agents and other critical stakeholders, then 90 per cent of the election will be credible.”

Speaking about the widely discussed issue of card readers, Kwande said:
“Card reader is the best initiative for Nigeria’s democracy. Whoever brought this device is a Godly man and he wants Nigeria’s democracy to exist, because to me it is shameful for someone to reject what would give peace to this country.

“The card reader is not a ballot paper, it is meant to verify the permanent voter’s card. Anyone who wants free, fair and transparent election will not reject this device. Because of the card reader and the PVC, I will walk into the polling booth feeling confident that my vote will count. I assure you also that if its goes the way we are being told by INEC, believe me sincerely even if my enemy wins the election, I will cross over and congratulate him.”

Another prediction was made earlier this week, not by a politician but by the spiritual leader of One Love Family, Sat Guru Maharaji. He said that there was no chance of Buhari becoming Nigeria’s new president, adding that Jonathan was the “divine choice”.
