Nigeria Needs Female President – Anenih

Former Minister of Women Affairs, Josephine Anenih, assured that Nigeria is presently going through difficult times because men have been ruling the country.Anenih was speaking during a meeting organised by Women Advocates, Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC) at the Lagos Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos, Daily Independent reports. The ex-minister truly believes that Nigeria needs a female President because male Presidents have failed the nation.According to a former women leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a woman is more humane, kind and understating when it comes to solving problems and, therefore, the electorate should encourage women to take active part in politics.“Women are focused, educated and enlightened, and those who are presently in government have performed creditably well, to the admiration of their male counterparts.”Executive Director of WARDC, Abiola Akiyode-Afolabi, in her speech stressed the necessity to provide opportunities for girls and women who have potential and have shown interest in contesting for elective offices in political parties. It would be noted that the only female presidential candidate in the February 14 elections is Prof. Oluremi Sonaiya of KOWA party. She has recently promised that she would address issues in education, unemployment, agriculture and security, if she wins the elections.
