Photos:Bronx man pleaded not guilty to allegedly killing 3-year-old step-grandson


A Bronx man pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges he killed his 3-year-old step-grandson, who had been living in his home after authorities removed the boy from his parents’ care.Fernando Yensi, 33, was charged with manslaughter for allegedly beating little Poseidon Quinones, who died Nov. 15 at Lincoln Medical Center. An autopsy revealed he died from significant blows to the midsection.
Authorities believe the injuries occurred while Poseidon’s grandmother, Madeline Yensi, 46, was at work on the overnight shift on Nov. 13 to 14, prosecutors said.The child was taken out of the care of his mother, Ashley Ramirez, 21, by the Administration for Children’s Services in September after she fought with the toddler’s father. He was removed from his father’s care, as well, the following month.
Yensi, who faces up to 25 years behind bars, was hauled back into custody after he entered the plea. The      case was adjourned until April 14.
