Ubah Brothers At War, As Chris Wants Senator Andy out of the Senate

A Bitter political war may have erupted within the Anambra’s popular Ubah political dynasty, with the youngest of the three brothers - Chris, fighting hard to push out the incumbent Senator Andy Ubah who is currently struggling for re-election.Chris, who emerged victorious from the senatorial primary organized by the Ejike Oguebego-led executive of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and attended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and relevant security agencies as well as the party’s national headquarters, said he was determined to replace his brother in the senate next year.
Speaking to TheGuardian in an exclusive interview in Awka yesterday, Chief Ubah emphasized that there was no love lost among the brothers - Senator Ugochukwu, Senator Andy and himself. “We are not quarreling. This is just an issue of power and love for the people of our constituency.

“I am in different political camp with Andy. Infact, I don’t even know which camp he currently belongs to. Any one of us who wins, we all shall support him. But left for me, I will ask Andy to allow me, his younger brother to go. He has done his best in the senate. He replaced our eldest brother Ugochukwu, so it’s now time for me to replace him,” Chris Ubah emphasized.

With both eyes focused on how to attract life-changing development projects to the area and determination to make laws to transform the nation positively, Ubah said he would give the area an unprecedented effective representation.

He said he was not going to the National Assembly to amass or make money, but would donate every kobo he earns to the people; that a committee would be established by the people of the seven constituting councils of Anambra South Zone (Aguata, Orumba North, Orumba South, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North and Nnewi South). The communities would then draw list of their chosen priority projects and we pursue them, and everyone would be happy. They would be the ones to decide whether to use it for scholarship, road construction, hospitals, schools, the like.

On way out of the present imbroglio weighing down the political fortunes of the party in the state, Ubah accused those he called visiting political hawks of jumping down into the state to overheat the polity. He therefore averred that should he fail to get the nod of the party as a result of the multiplicity of lists, “I will go back to the courts. I do not see any of these other persons parading around as serious people because we follow the decision of the courts. Democracy and human coexistence thrives on the rule of law, if not there would be anarchy everywhere.

“I saw the judgment on the party leadership on the state. It was clear, no ambiguity at all. And our primary was monitored and supervised by all - the INEC, Police, SSS, the Party and the Media. The party however needs to instill discipline to curb any further rascality and lawlessness. Such is a big threat to democracy.”
