FG again vows to bring back Chibok girls, tasks Nigerians on vigilance


The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to rescuing the over 200 girls kidnapped in Chibok, Borno State. The students have been in captivity since April 14, 2014. Coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr Mike Omeri on Thursday said “The government has not given up and will not give up in the search and rescue (of the Chibok girls) as can be evidenced in ongoing investigation on all leads and trails”. He also appealed to Nigerians to be security conscious especially during the Yuletide.
Omeri hinted that security operatives were fully aware of plans by terrorists to take advantage of the season to carry out their violent attacks.
He said: “As the year 2014 gradually comes to an end, Nigerians have been advised to be very security conscious, especially during the end of the year festivities.
“Already security agents have been intimated of plans by insurgents to carry put major attacks against soft targets during this period.
“These targets includes motor parks, churches, schools, mosques, recreational centres to cause large scale destruction of lives and property”.
