THE police in Edo State on Wednesday killed a member of a gang of armed robbers, who raided some areas within the Benin metropolis in the morning. The armed robber was killed during a shoot-out with policemen who responded to a distress call by residents of Okhoro area of Benin. More than 50 mobile phones, a Toyota Highlander and cash were said to have been recovered from the armed robbers. The body of the slain robber was displayed at the Okhoro Police Division as residents stormed the place to identify the armed robber and make claims for their stolen phones. Continue...
Edo State Police Commissioner, Foluso Adebanjo, said the police got information that the robbers numbering about 10 stormed the area and were robbing residents. He added that policemen rushed to the scene and engaged the robbers in a shoot-out which led to the killing of one of the robbers. Adebanjo urged residents of Edo State to support police to remove criminals from the state. Some of the victims, who narrated their ordeals, said the robbers invaded their homes early in the morning and took anything they could lay their hands on.
