The Imo state Police command have arrested a 2-man child trafficking syndicate in the state who specialize in stealing children and selling them to prospective buyers. The men identified as 22 year old Kelechi Nwogu and 22 year old Ebuka Ibe were paraded at the Imo state Police command by the state police Commissioner, Mr Austin Evbakhavbokum yesterday June 7th.
According to Punch, the suspects were arrested after a distress call was made to the police following the kidnapping of two siblings, 4 year old Chukwuma Ezeribe and 3 year old Chigozie Ezeribe (both pictured above) while they were returning from school at Amazu Amato in the Orsu Local Government Area.
The state police commissioner said the suspects were on their way to sell the children when they were apprehended
"The two victims were being conveyed by the suspects to a prospective buyer before operatives pursued and arrested them,” he said
Items discovered in the home of one of the arrested suspects, Emeka Ibe, included one locally-made revolver pistol with one round of 99mm live ammunition, one locally-made short gun with one line cartridge, one locally-made single barrel gun and two big iron cutters.
Also paraded at the state police command were kidnappers named Barnabas Chidiebere (34), Chinwendu Okaru (29), Chibundu Amadi (32), and Kenneth Ordu (29), all of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area who carried out the kidnap of Mr. Martins Ndukwu of Umuokanne in the Ohaji/Egbema Council Area of the state.
