The newly sworn in governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, on resumption to office on Monday, June 1, 2015 was locked out of the governor’s office located inside the Government House in Asaba.
The governor had already been taken round all offices and halls that make up the complex by the Permanent Secretary to the Government House, Benson Oburoh.
However, the keys to Governor Okowa’s office were not available for him to enter and there were speculations that the keys were still with the ex governor of the state and many people have attributed this to the cold relationship between Governor Okowa and the immediate past governor of the state, Emmanuel Uduaghan.
Some people have blamed the incident on some of the new aides supervising renovations in the office while some claimed it was a deliberate action by Emmanuel Udughan.
After Governor Okowa’s inspection of the Government House, a prayer sessioon was held at the Chapel where the governor enjoined the Delta State people to pray for the success of his administration’s programmes and policies as Prayer he said is the key to success.
According to Daily Independent report, a Government House worker who pleaded anonymity revealed that the commissioners of the immediate past administration had looted the Commissioners’ Quarters of air conditioners, television sets furniture sets among other things.
Governor Okowa is however yet to make official appointments that would form his government.
