PDP's Election Loss Might Be A Blessing To The Party-David Mark

The Senate president, David Mark, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to stop bickering over the loss of the general elections and be prepared for a new task of providing a credible opposition in the country. The Senator’s opinion was contained in a statement issued by Paul Mumeh, Mark’s chief press secretary, on May 3, Sunday in Abuja, PM News reports. According to the statement, Mark made the appeal at a parley with elected PDP Senators and members of the House of Representatives.

The Senate president stressed the importance of putting the failure of the recent elections behind and concentrating on building a strong and united party, ready to offer credible opposition.

“There is no need weeping over lost opportunities or mistakes of yesterday. The failure of yesterday should be our lesson for a better today and a triumphant future.

“We must accept the ups and downs as an opposition party, that is what the PDP is now, we must remain a united family and face the reality,” he said.According to Mark, the unimpressive showing of the PDP in the elections might be a blessing to the party and the nation “because we are going back to the drawing board to do a critical review and fashion out a blue print that would get us out of the woods for good.”

“The role of opposition is strange to us, but it is not a death sentence. We should be ready for the challenges. We are prepared to play a credible opposition. I believe the nation and indeed, Nigerians would be the best for it,” he stressed.

Finishing his statement, Senator Mark called on all stakeholders in the PDP to resolve to work together for a united and strong party.
