The Candidate of the All Progressives Congress In Rivers State, Dakuku Peterside has accused the adhoc staff of the Independence National Electoral Commission (INEC) of being ‘card carrying members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’ and involving in electoral malpractice.Mr Peterside said his party (APC) protested the manipulation by the opposition party and how they lost confidence in the Returning Officer, whom he claimed was bribed by the opposition party.
Speaking as a guest via telephone on Channels Television’s election programme, Nigeria2015, Mr Peterside complained of irregularities during the process. He claimed there were cases of hijacking of materials by militants and hoodlums, non-functional card readers and results taken away by officials into a private home among others.
He said over 100 INEC staff involved with the PDP were arrested by security personnel, insisting that the INEC officials were compromised.
Mr Peterside noted that after the presidential election a press conference was held by the APC, APGA and SDP to address the issues that occurred during the presidential election.
Mr Peterside also pointed out that young boys and girls were seen with guns in Okirika shooting and a proper documentation has been done to be given to the tribunal.
He also noted that the APC has met with the families of those who were killed and gave an assurance that their party would be supported in every little way.
