President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday said he was not surprised that people don’t come to Aso Rock these days like they used to. Mr Jonathan said this at the 5th presidential prayers breakfast held at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja. One of the eminent people absent at the event was the First Lady Patience Jonathan and the president’s mother Eunice, who missed the breakfast prayers for the first time since 2010. Mrs Jonathan has stayed out of spotlight after her husband lost election at the March 28 presidential election.
According to Mr Jonathan: “Today, I expected a very low turn out because most cases when government is going people reduce. You will notice that even the chapel the number of people that will be coming become less and less. But when I came in I noticed that this whole hall was filled up, so I have to sincerely thank all of you. “And we are all here because we believe in the power of prayers in nation building. The essence of presidential prayers breakfast is to call on all Nigerians to come together and pray. “When you talk about building the countryyou can relate to Nehemiah who wanted to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem after the captivity. We knew what Nehemiah did even before he confronted the king, he prayed. And every step he prayed and he succeeded in rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem.”
