The governor of Niger State, Dr. Babangida Aliyu, on Monday declared that the call for change was unnecessary, as the incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan still has a lot to offer the nation.Aliyu made the declaration while visiting the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Garba Attahiru, during the Peoples Democratic Party governorship campaign at Kagara town in the Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State.
“The call for change is unnecessary, if someone has stayed long out of office, it will take him another four years to learn if he gets to office before he can finally catch up,” he said.Aliyu decried the increasing rate of attacks in the country, adding that it was capable of disrupting the forthcoming general elections.Calling on political parties and leaders to caution their supporters, Aliyu contended that violence would not solve any problem and that the people would still live together after the elections.“After the elections, we will all have to live together; so we should not do things that will further divide the country. I plead with political leaders to call their supporters to order,” the governor pleaded. The governor appealed to the Emir to talk to his people into joining the PDP.“Please tell Kagara people not to leave PDP. Help us tell them to join the winning team,” he said.Responding, the Emir pledged to keep praying for the peace of the country.
