Irene Major (pictured above Before & After) – made global headlines a few days ago when she publicly came out to acknowledge she had altered her natural skin tone.Following the backlash she received from the black community – Irene denies her skin lightening is related to ‘changing race’. Speaking during an interview with ITV UK’s This Morning - the former model turned pop singer, married to a Canadian Oil Tycoon, says bleaching her skin doesn’t mean she’s trying to become white. She’s been lightening her skin for nearly seven years now and spends upwards of £2,000 on products to ‘maintain’ her new complexion.Watch the interview below…
It’s amazing how much Irene and Dencia have in common. They’re both from Cameroun. They are former models. They both have a struggly music career. And of course, their skin bleaching is the reason both women have been thronged into the limelight (internationally). When Lupita Nyong’o threw a jibe at Dencia during her infamous speech at the Essence ‘Black Women in Hollywood’Luncheon earlier this year, the world suddenly became familiar with the name Dencia. Thanks to Lupita, Dencia scored herself several international TV appearances and interviews. From the look of things, Irene Major is towing the exact same line. Being vocal and proud about her skin bleaching is getting her the recognition and fame her music career didn’t afford her.
