Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday took turn to apologise to former President Olusegun Obasanjo and pleaded with him to come back to the party.At the formal defection of the former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel from Labour Party to PDP, the party described Obasanjo as “a father” who should not abandon his children. Daniel, who has been having a running battle with Obasanjo over the control of PDP structure publicly apologised to the former president for the disagreement he had with him.
“I want to use this opportunity to publicly apologise to Baba. From where I come from, whenever there is a battle between son and father, the son can never be right. Let me call on President Obasanjo not to abandon his house. We apologise, we apologise and we apologise again,” the former governor said.
The President of the Senate, David Mark, who is also the Chairman of the PDP zonal Integration for the South West, and National Chairman, Dr. Adamu Mu’azu appealed to the former President to pardon whatever offence the party members might have committed against him.
Daniel who said he was rejoining PDP with a member of the House of Representatives and five former Action Congress of Nigeria, CAN, in the state House of Assembly, and Chairman of Labour Party in Ogun State, Comrade Niyi Osoba, said he was returning to the party he left in 2011 to avoid a repeat of what happened four years ago.
