Man Sentenced to 3 months in prison for stealing 10 cartons of fruit juice

Abuja –  A Wuse Zone 2 Senior Magistrates’ Court, Abuja, on Friday, sentenced a man, Mohammed Mamman, to three months in prison for stealing 10 cartons of fruit juice in a market. The Senior Magistrate, Mr Aminu Eri, sentenced Mamman, a labourer who lives at Mabushi Ghetto, Abuja, after he pleaded guilty to the offence. However, Eri gave the convict an option to pay N2,000 fine. He cautioned him to be of good behaviour.Continue...
Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl Ango Umar, told the court that the theft was reported at the Wuse Market Police Station, Abuja, by one Mr Emmanuel Nnaji of block STD 1, Wuse Market, Abuja, on Sept. 30. Umar said the accused confessed to have committed the crime during investigation.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79 and 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
