Igbo Presidency: Okorocha Knocks Ohaneze over Lack of Interest

The Imo State Governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha, has expressed shock at the lack of confidence among the Igbos in aspiring for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015. Okorocha bared his mind when he received the Enugu Zonal Director and management team of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) in Government House, Owerri. He stressed that Nigeria as a nation belonged to all Nigerians and wondered why Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo should champion the cause of discouraging the Igbo man from aspiring for the highest position in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Continue...
He therefore called on the Igbos to brace up and support any of their own aspiring for the Presidency. The Governor assured the Enugu Zonal Director of the support of government but challenged FRCN stations to pursue the goal of uplifting the people and uniting the nation by being objective in their reportage. He however regretted that FRCN had failed to give elaborate report on the abandoned Imo axis of the Port-Harcourt-Owerri Road which posed great danger to motorists plying the road. Earlier, the Enugu Zonal Director, FRCN, Mr. Chigozie Obialor said they were in Owerri to hold their 3rd and 4th Annual conference. He revealed the year’s conference with the theme; “Overcoming the challenges of Election Year through Radio Programme”, would provide the radio Stations within the zone with new ideas that would help serve the public better. Mr. Obialor thanked the Governor for providing the radio station with conducive atmosphere for operation in Owerri and requested for an operation vehicle for the Owerri Station, while assuring the State government of their collaboration.
