The Sun Vice Chairman dies at 58



The Sun Vice Chairman, Pastor Dimgba Igwe was this morning knocked down by vehicle while jogging around his residence in the Okota area of Lagos.

Mr Igwe sustained a fatal injury and was immediately taken to the hospital where he underwent surgical emergency.


The Chairman of the Sun Publishing Limited Dr Orji Uzor Kalu was shocked by the incident and described the day as the darkest day in the history of the organization.

Dimgba who also doubles as Assistant General overseer of Evangel Pentecostal Church sustained serious injury and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

He was aged 58.

Dimgba, alongside his ‘twin’ brother Mike Awoyinfa pioneered the now rested Weekend Concord newspaper where they distinguished themselves as journalists par excellence.

The duo also set a landmark in the Nigerian media with the establishment of a newspaper entirely devoted to reporting the entertainment industry called Entertainment Express.

He co-authored popular books like, Osoba: The Newspaper Years, The Arts of Feature Writing and Mike Adenuga: The Business Guru among others.
