Man Kills Wife Over Cassava Farm in Anambra

The Anambra State Police Command is currently investigating the death of a middle aged woman who was killed in Akili Ogidi, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State. It was gathered that the woman was killed in a mysterious circumstance.A senior police officer (name withheld) in Ogbaru Police Division, who confirmed the story to our correspondent at the weekend, said there are conflicting reports surrounding the death of the woman, adding that the police are still investigating the killing.

Meanwhile, the state chairman of the Akili-Ogidi Vigilante services, Mr Emenike Aligwe, told our correspondent that the man (name withheld), a native of Umumba village, had told his late wife, whom he divorced not long ago, to go with him to their cassava farm to share it.

It was further gathered that after the farm was shared, he killed her.

He said it took them the whole night to search for him before they could arrest him inside a thick forest. He expressed happiness that the man had been arrested and handed over to the police.

But the police in Atani said that “he is being charged of suspected murder for now because he has claimed that someone else killed her late divorced wife and not him as alleged.”
