Hoodlums abduct IMSU PRO

OWERRI — Palpable anxiety has gripped the management and staff of Imo State University, IMSU, Owerri, following the reported abduction of the institution’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, Nze Ralph Njoku-Obi, last Sunday.Information reaching Vanguard revealed that some unidentified armed gang scaled  the perimeter fence of Njoku-Obi’s private residence at Owalla, Uratta, Owerri North Local Government Area of the state to kidnap the university scribe.
It was also gathered that the armed hoodlums struck at about 2a.m., shot sporadically to scare people away from the scene, before whisking their hapless victim away to an unknown destination. While the ugly incident had become a source of worry to Owalla people, it was equally gathered that the IMSU community was also rattled when our correspondent visited the institution, yesterday. Some staff of the institution, who spoke on grounds of anonymity, claimed that they had heard the rumour of the PRO’s kidnap, adding that they could not say with finality if it was true or not.As at the time of going to press, neither the kidnapped IMSU-PRO nor the hoodlums had made any contact with the immediate members of the Njoku-Obi family.Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Andrew Enwerem, said he was yet to get the signal, as at the time of the inquiry.
