Suspected Boko Haram leader killed by security operatives in gun battle

A suspected Boko Haram leader was killed on Sunday 6 July by security operatives following a raid on a hideout in Kinkinau, Kaduna state.The suspect and his men were believed to have engaged security operatives in a gun battle that lasted over one hour but the leader was killed as he tried to flee scene.An eyewitness said security operatives comprising plain cloth personnel and armed soldiers arrived the area at about 2:00 a.m. surrounding the building.

The security operatives then commanded everyone in the building to step out of the building but rather than oblige the instruction they opened fire on the security operatives.According to The Nation, the suspect is believed to be one of the leaders of the Islamist sect who relocated from Borno state to Kaduna.
