Police Warn The People Of Imo State Against Calling
Northerners Boko Haram.
The Imo State Police Command has warned the people of the
state to stop calling Northerners in the state Boko Haram members. The Public
Relations Officer of the state, DSP Andrew Enwerem in a statement issued
yesterday in Owerri said the boko haram members are not identified by their
mode of dressing or the language they speak. He, however, urged the people of
Imo state to maintain a peaceful relationship.
Meanwhile the Vice Chairman Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF)
Alhaji Muhamad Abubakar Tola, said it is unfair for people to tag every
northerner, Boko Haram as he recalled an incident which recently happened of
some Hausas who were sent away from watching the World cup match at a viewing
center.
This is coming after the Imo police averted an explosion in
Winners Chapel, Port Harcourt which house over 2,000 people on Sunday morning,
June 15. The Police had arrived the scene after being alerted of the suspicious
object only to discover the "Improvised Explosive Devices in forms of
refrigerator compressor concealed in sack bags" and detonated them.
It was reported last month the Nigerian police had advised
Nigerians not to link the bomb scare at Winners Chapel Church in Owerri, Imo
state on Sunday June 15th to the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists as
investigations are still on-going.
