The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, does not seem tired of its struggle to “liberate” the people of the South-eastern part of Nigeria with its passionate bid, though declared illegal, to establish the republic of Biafra. Despite arrests and detention of its members, the group has remained resolute in spite of the challenges the Igbos still face as consequences of the Civil War years back.

Turgut Oymen, 73, was left devastated after his lifelong sweetheart, Nese, left him for a young doctor on the eve of their golden wedding anniversary. In anger, the heartbroken pensioner chopped off his penis and threw it in a river.While Nese, 70, was 550 miles away in Istanbul, Turkey, she called Turgut to say she had fallen in love with a 55-year-old doctor, and had decided to stay in the city.

In despair, the 73-year-old rushed down to the river to commit the act before calling for an ambulance.

A middle-aged man narrowly escaped death in the hands of angry teachers for allegedly impregnating a secondary school girl in Enugu. The man who was initially mistaken for a local contractor has now been confirmed to be a Personal Assistant to the Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime.The suspect was beaten to pulp and stripped naked for allegedly impregnating an SS1 student (names withheld) of Metropolitan Girls Secondary School located at Ogui New Layout, Enugu state.

A 32-year-old man, Chinedu Emmanuel Nnalue (pictured above) is now cooling his heels behind bars following his arrest by detectives of the criminal investigation department in the Anambra State police command for allegedly macheting his 59-year-old father, Nwafor Nnalue to death.The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hosea Karma, who confirmed the development, disclosed that the suspect equally cut the deceased’s hands and legs while mutilating the body.

"Troops have finally routed terrorists from Bara, the Headquarters of Gulani LGA of Yobe State and Gulag, the Headquarters of Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State in the early hours of yesterday, Friday.

A mobile policeman in Bauchi state shot dead his superior and former ADC to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Superintendent of Police, Chris Eza (pictured above), yesterday February 26th in Bauchi.

According to family sources, Chris Eza had gone out to get food at an eatery along Ahmadu Bello way around 9pm when he saw some police officers on patrol.

Photo: Cameroon's most senior soldier killed in Boko Haram battle

Above is a photo of Captain Mbene Matute, the most senior Cameroonian army officer who was killed during a battle with Boko Haram members on Wednesday Feb 25th. He was killed after the vehicle he was riding in with other colleagues struck a landmine, blowing up the vehicle. It happened in Gamboru, a Nigerian town. He and another soldier died in the incident.

Photos: 3 Women Killed As Customs Knocks Bus Off Highway

Three ladies aged between 25 and 30 years died Thursday afternoon after the hummer bus in which they were travelling was knocked off the Lagos-Benin highway by an operational vehicle driven by operatives of the Nigerian Customs Service.The commuter bus with registeration number EDO AKA 35 LG carrying second hand clothes also known as okirika, summersaulted during a hot chase by Customs officials from the Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja from one of their checkpoints in Ijebu Ode.

The driver of the bus allegedly refused to stop when flagged down at their checkpoint which resulted in the tragic chase.

24 year old Nigerian Ozeivo Andrew Akerele has been declared missing after he failed to return to his apartment from a night out with his friends on January 30th.

According to police reports, Ozeivo, a new entrant at the Coventry University, UK was last seen at Iglu club on Spon street where he went to hang out with his friends. Coventry police believe Ozi had called after leaving the club to be picked up from wherever he was.

“We believe that Ozi made a call asking to be picked up by Coventry University in the early hours of Saturday, January 31. However, when his lift arrived he was not there and has not been seen since. His family are extremely concerned as this is very out of character for him. He would not know the area particularly well and we are appealing to anyone who has seen Ozi or knows of his whereabouts to call their local police with details. We just want to make sure that he is safe.” Coventry police spokesperson said

Breaking news: Ebonyi House serves impeachment notice on Gov Elechi

ABAKALIKI- EBONYI state House of Assembly Friday morning served an impeachment notice on Governor Martin Elechi over what it described as act of gross misconduct by the Governor.

Reading the notice at the plenary, the acting leader of the House, Hon. Francis Nwifruru accused the Governor of huge financial misappropriation, undermining of the integrity of the House, among other offences.

A Nigerian girl identified as Gift from Edo state, (pictured above), has been found dead one month after she gave an interview to PM News, about how she was trafficked to Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso for prostitution.According to PM News, Gift had told them in January 2015 during an investigative report on Human trafficking that she and some girls had been lured to Ougadougou in April 2014 with the hope of getting a better life in Europe but in the end were made sex slaves at the ‘Bar Dancing Petit Ouaga’, a brothel in Toudoubweogo village in Ouagadougou.

During the interview in January, Gift had expressed hope that once she has paid the traffickers their money, she would be free to leave. Sadly she has died. They didn't say how she died and when.

Three days after US Missionary worker, Rev. Phyllinx Sogor, was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Kogi, another educationist, Mrs Paulina Audu was kidnapped this morning by unknown gunmen as she was leaving her house in Nagazi, in Adavi LGA.

According to reports, Mrs Audu was on her way out for a morning devotion in her church when some men who had laid siege by her compound waylaid her, forced her into her car, pulled her driver out of her car and sped off with her to an unknown destination. Kogi state Police command is yet to confirm the incident.

President Jonathan today visited in Mubi, Adamawa State and Baga, Borno State where he met with the troops who are fighting Boko Haram. He applauded the troops for recapturing territories formerly held by insurgents. He said that he and all Nigerians were very proud of the bravery, competence and patriotism with which they were now undertaking operations to expel the insurgents from all parts of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa state. The APC senators in the national assembly alleged that Professor Attahiru Jega, the chairman of INEC, will be directed to embark on terminal leave next week. According to a report by The Cable, the former governor of Benue state and senate minority leader, " the head of service would direct Jega to proceed on terminal leave next week.

The senators condemned the attempt to remove the INEC chairman under any guise, saying his removal would be tantamount to “subversion of the system”. “Only dishonest politicians fear Jega as chairman of INEC,” Akume said.

“We have received information that next week Jega will be served a letter from the head of service directing him to proceed on terminal leave‎. We wonder why the government wants to tamper with the current arrangement of INEC.”
